Cher and Cher alike!

his Hollywood BUT Doctor Encourages people to
CHER and CHER alike!

I am part of you, these are universal truths
We’re all part of the light that flows through everything

A Different Kind of Love Song - Written by: M. Lewis/J. Aberg/Ziggy

CHER the Light

That quote comes from one of my favorite Cher songs. Healers come in all shapes and sizes and in all walks of life. True healers are often not packaged in traditional clothing nor do they play the 9 to 5 game of life with the rest of us. Instead they follow their hearts, activate their passion and dive into a unique, nontraditional life-style.

I’ve always been attracted to people who march to the beat of a different drummer; unique, one-of-a-kind people that have an amazing inner-light that sparkles and shimmers beyond their peers. Cher is one of those progressive, leading edge people, she has opened minds, hearts and spirits with her music.

Ever since I was a little boy growing up in North Carolina I have sincerely appreciated Cher. I remember laying on the living room floor of our quaint single wide trailer anxiously waiting for the Sonny & Cher show to magically appear inside of our little television set.

In April I was at the Hollywood Bowl for Cher’s Farewell Tour and I was lucky enough to be three rows from the stage. Up till that moment I had never seen her in person. Imagine my excitement when a giant chandelier was lowered two stories from the ceiling and inside of the chandelier stood Cher. Even Cher admitted that she looked like a giant drag-queen piΖata. Her sequins and bugle-beaded dresses and costumes shimmered under the spotlights as she resided over a magical kingdom where the old and the young, traditional and progressive people came together in a sea of adoration.

CHER the Vision

A number of things struck me. First of all, I’ve had the privilege of meeting lots of celebrities in my line of work and I’m hardly ever “star-struck.” BUT, with each costume change, dance sequence and new grand entrance I hollered at the top of my lungs along with the rest of the huge crowd as she reined queen of the night. And believe me, in Hollywood--to be the true queen of the night among a million drag queens is no easy feat. From the stage I was able to clearly see back up into the hills of the Hollywood Bowl and I observed a sea of fans hypnotized by Cher’s every move, every syllable and every pose!

I loved Cher’s fashion sense, her exotic looks and electric, soulful voice. Even today her voice has a vibratory frequency that’s yet to be duplicated. Way back then, as a kid, watching her and musing about her energy I “just knew” that she was building an extraordinary platform that would put her well on her way to “iconic” status.

As an adult I have more mature reasons for appreciating her. Think about it for a moment. There is no aspect of the entertainment industry that Cher hasn’t penetrated, thrived and conquered! Music, acting, and comedienne to name a few. She has won awards in every field that she has participated in, from Emmy’s, Golden Globes and Foreign Film Awards to an Oscar for “Moonstruck” and a Grammy for “Believe.” She stood for something strong, bold and steadfast that I wanted so much to be a part of. I adore her brass balls to the wind approach to life.

What if the world calmed down and we could
all breathe together easily
connecting the sky and the ground with you and me.

That’s when I ask myself, “What kind of intention does one have in order to be on a three year Farewell Tour, playing to packed audiences that are there to see YOU weave your magic?”

CHER the Passion

Intention is enormous. And a pure, intention without a BUT-tradiction is life changing. I loved watching Cher on stage, glowing with an enormous appreciation and gratitude that made her appear almost surreal.

One of my very favorite aspects of her concert at the Hollywood Bowl was the giant jumbo-tron screens on both sides of the stage. These screens featured a series of montages from her movie, television and musical career. I loved watching images of her career over the years.

I also loved standing near the stage as my childhood memories came to life, overlapping my past memories with my current intentions to see Cher in concert. The frequency from her music vibrated my past and present together in a majestic pattern of imagination and reality.

Each clip of vintage footage shown on the jumbo screens that showed her performances with Carol Burnett, the Jackson Five, Ray Charles, Elton John and Tina Turner brought back a rush of long forgotten memories that bridged the young boy in me to the gentleman that I am today. It was sort of a combustion point of energy.

CHER the Dream

Then I wondered about her mass appeal. She doesn’t fit any traditional mold and she has always marched to the beat of her own drummer. She’s different and she is one of the few people in history who’s unique difference is celebrated by an outrageous cross section of people in all walks of life. At her concert I saw four to six year-old kids dancing and singing to her music in one row next to men and women in their fifties and sixties singing and moving to her music with the same excitement and energetic enthusiasm. Wow! That is wide appeal. I think that every soul listening heard Cher’s intention through her music, that is to believe in yourself and to be yourself, regardless of what others think, be true to you.

I’d have to say that music is one of my favorite “But” Busters. If you are feeling down, if your self-belief is dragging behind your behind, if you just can’t seem to stop discounting your desires and contradicting your dreams, then I say put on a great Cher C.D. Listen to the uplifting words, dance your “But” off around your living room. Smile from ear to ear. Look in the mirror and suck in your cheeks. Give that mirror your best, fabulous Diva look. If she were there with you, she’d tell you herself, if she can do it, you can do it!

I am part of you, we have living proof
There is some kind of light that flows through everything
